Scope 3 & PCF: Engage Your Teams and Suppliers to Secure Your Margins
Scope 3 emissions—and specifically the procurement function—often account for 70 to 90 percent of a company’s greenhouse gas emissions. Yet it is often at this very stage that taking action becomes complex.
In this webinar organized by Decarbo’Solution®, our experts Philippe Mangeard (President and Founder) and Victor Véron (Head of Consulting and Sales) are joined by Olivier Classiot, Co-founder and Senior Partner at the CSR consulting firm. Together, they’ll share a practical approach to getting your supply chain on board without bogging it down with administrative complexity.
Turning the Pyramid Upside Down: Product-Based Learning (PCF)
Rather than immediately requiring a full Carbon Footprint assessment from all of your suppliers—an approach perceived by small and medium-sized businesses as too burdensome and very costly—the strategy is based on an “inverted pyramid.” The idea is to first ask them for the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). Just as a buyer asks for the cost price of a specific item without requesting the company’s full financial statements, the PCF allows efforts to be focused on tangible elements (raw materials, transportation, packaging). It serves as a smooth and understandable entry point toward a comprehensive climate strategy.
Focus on Impact with Real-World Examples
The case study by the consulting firm Des Enjeux et des Hommes demonstrates the effectiveness of this method through a practical example in the restaurant industry. Instead of wasting energy on time-consuming, low-impact actions, the PCF approach allows companies to directly target the products with the highest carbon emissions. This helps instantly identify the right internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers with whom to engage in a meaningful dialogue on decarbonization. Human and financial resources are thus focused where the environmental (and economic) ROI is greatest.
Supporting the transition and the bidding process
To move from theory to industrial-scale implementation, the speakers will introduce you to the software suite designed for post-GHG assessment. With tools such as Decarbo’Target® to model and quantify your action plan, Decarbo’Supply® (including the free online My-PCF® calculator) to seamlessly collect data from your suppliers, and Decarbo’Tender® to robustly integrate carbon criteria into your requests for proposals. This suite enables you to conduct an auditable comparison of your value chain’s efforts and avoid financial penalties associated with European regulations (MACF, ETS).
Don’t let Scope 3 remain the blind spot in your CSR policy. Watch this replay to equip yourself with the essential methods and tools needed to preserve your margins and ensure the success of your environmental transition!
An ecosystem of experts to ensure competitiveness
Reducing a company’s Scope 3 carbon footprint is also a major financial challenge, particularly with the rise of mechanisms such as the MACF and growing expectations in both the public and private sectors. With support from AGP Group experts and guidance from the ObsAR methodology, contracting authorities can establish a virtuous cycle. And to capitalize on this competitive edge in your own responses to requests for proposals, showcasing this data expertise through solutions like Decarbo’Tender® becomes a true differentiating advantage.
