The Decarbo’Solution® platform, whose R&D division is based in Nice, enables any business or local government to measure its overall carbon footprint and receive guidance on how to reduce it.
Philippe Mangeard is quite a character—he’s founded dozens of companies.
“I certainly have some innovative ideas, but my wife is the genius!”
Régine Mangeard, a telecommunications engineer and certified math teacher, has had the ability and determination to turn her husband’s ideas into effective IT solutions for the past thirty years. After founding—among other ventures—the company TK’Blue in 2011, which calculates the carbon footprint of transportation and its impact on corporate social responsibility (CSR), they are now expanding their services to all types of businesses, enabling them to independently assess their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions [editor’s note].
Was TK’Blue a flop?
“Oh, no! We’ve won over several thousand clients in eight years, including Carrefour, Unilever, Amazon, and Renault. But as long as it isn’t mandatory, companies aren’t rushing to measure just their transportation impact. So we’ve expanded our offering to cover all of their operations.”
Decarbo’Solution® (Decarbo’Solution®), a company specializing in carbon footprint assessments that was founded in June 2020, is expanding the platform’s commercial scope to a “global” level. With its headquarters in Paris, its administrative center in Strasbourg, and its R&D department based in Nice, Decarbo’Solution® is aiming for 80% growth in 2021 and 200% growth in 2022.
DESACRALIZE
Using an online educational questionnaire, each of the company’s activities is converted into a carbon footprint—“In just a few hours,” explains the CEO. Here isan example of a carbon footprint assessment.
“Major companies have already signed on, such as Bouygues, Derichebourg, the Tour de France, and, locally, the Mane Group and Ineldea Laboratories… The momentum behind the legislation [ the 2020 European Council emphasized the goals of the European Green Deal, including carbon neutrality by 2050—Editor’s note] will reinforce the success of our solution.”
With the support of some fifty experts, Decarbo’Solution® aims to dispel the notion that conducting a GHG assessment is tedious and costly. On the contrary, Philippe Mangeard asserts:“Conducting a GHG assessment always yields a financial benefit!”
THE FATHER OF THE RAILWAY HIGHWAY
Optimodality. Philippe Mangeard claims to have coined this term. That’s because he was the one who, in collaboration with the Lohr Group, established the transport of trucks on SNCF trains (the first route between France and Italy in 2003, reducing CO2 emissions by 1 metric ton per trip).
Since then, the SNCF has taken over and expanded this oversight of rail highways, which are firmly established in the Castex government’s plan.
