The decarbonization strategy is a team effort

🎬 Interview with Cécile Suquet, CSR Manager at LCL

Could you please introduce yourself and describe your business?

My name isCécile Suquet, and I am the CSR Manager atLCL. In line with its urban banking strategy, LCL is committed to supporting and taking action on behalf of customers who want to combat climate change.

Why has LCL been interested in its carbon footprint, and since when?

LCL began looking into its carbon footprint for regulatory reasons and started calculating it in 2014. At the same time, we committed to carbon neutrality across all of our financed and operational emissions. We felt it was essential to begin measuring these emissions through an accurate and reliable carbon footprint assessment.

Why did you choose the GCI platform?

WithGCI, we can calculate our carbon footprint entirely on our own, making progress year after year by refining our emission factors by type of activity—which is key to accurate measurement and developing the right action plan. It automatically generates a carbon footprint report that is verifiable by third parties and compliant with regulations, so we have a tool that is both reliable and can be seamlessly integrated into our operations.

What do you tell entrepreneurs to convince them to assess their company’s carbon footprint?

We truly have a tool that is accessible and makes carbon footprint assessment completely accessible to everyone. Furthermore, even today, conducting your own carbon footprint assessment and reducing your emissions remains a key differentiator. In the future—if it isn’t already—it will be a decisive factor. Reducing emissions and being able to demonstrate that reduction in a reliable and auditable way is a key competitive advantage.Carbon neutrality is a team effort, and we need your help.
