Carbon Footprint: Let's Set in Motion the Positive Initiatives of Tomorrow

🎬 Interview with Anne-Sophie Vezine, Associate Managing Director of Quertix

Could you please introduce yourself and describe your business?

My name is Anne-Sophie Vezine. I am the Associate Managing Director of Quertix, a project we launched in 2021.

Quertix is an accelerator for the positive economy. Our mission—if I may summarize it for Quertix—is to help companies work toward a better world and to encourage consumers to support them in this effort.

Today, we realized that there was a real lack of transparency and clarity for consumers, and that we needed to restore people’s trust to help them make better purchasing decisions. What my business partner Frédéric Chauvat and I decided to create is an impact score—the “Nutri-Score” of ESG criteria. Our goal with Quertix is to help consumers make better choices and to help companies transition more easily toward a positive economy.

How does a carbon footprint assessment contribute to a company’s “CSR” strategy?

For me, a carbon footprint assessment is the first step toward enabling companies to take corrective action and launch positive initiatives for the future. It’s essential to have a clear picture of a company’s carbon emissions in order to determine which actions to prioritize.

When we talk about impact, there are different angles to consider, and when it comes to environmental criteria, in my view, the starting point and the first step a company should take is simply to understand its carbon footprint.

Why did you choose the GCI platform?

Today, with Quertix, we’re truly on a mission to democratize impact. That’s the project we’re driving forward; that’s the ambition we’re pursuing. The entire experience we’ve created is deeply rooted in this mission. In fact, the partnership with GCI was, for us, a partnership of choice. I’d even go so far as to call it a natural partnership. We share the same DNA and the same values. And that’s what brought us together.

All these concepts—related to environmental impact, corporate social responsibility, and carbon footprints—need to be made accessible to the general public so we can get as many companies as possible on board with us. I think that was GCI’s goal two years ago when the company was founded. It’s also Quertix’s goal today. I believe these are the values that have brought us together in this partnership.

As part of this effort to democratize impact, GCI is the most obvious partner for us. That’s because GCI offers a fully digital platform—a simple, affordable, and self-guided experience. For us, it was clear that the GCI experience needed to be integrated into the Quertix experience.

What advice do you give entrepreneurs to help them successfully assess their carbon footprint?

I would say right off the bat that a carbon footprint assessment is indeed the starting point for making an impact in the future. If we also want to ensure the long-term viability of our business—because I believe we’ll soon have a duty to implement corrective actions and make positive decisions for the survival and sustainability of our business—then this is the starting point. In fact, I think future generations will thank you for calculating your carbon footprint and taking action to create a better world.
