Background
In 2021, Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) partnered with Decarbo’Solution® to recalculate the carbon footprint of its flagship event, the Tour de France. Seeking a sustainable and user-friendly solution to advance its low-carbon strategy, A.S.O. turned to our team.
Impressed by the accuracy of our solution, the wealth of information provided across the three scopes, and the ability to easily manage their low-carbon strategy, A.S.O. has decided to continue its partnership with Decarbo’Solution®.
The team also undertook GHG emissions assessments for other major events, including the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, the Dakar Rally, the Adidas 10K Paris, the Garmin Triathlon Paris, the Lacoste Ladies Open de France and 12 other sporting events.

Do you think decarbonizing your organization will improve its competitiveness?
We wish to continue to strive towards an increasingly eco-responsible organization, without denying the nature of our events, in particular their itinerant and popular nature. We are convinced that carbon footprints and the resulting decarbonization plans can enable us to continue to raise the profile of our events and thus improve their competitiveness, by involving our stakeholders (partners, local authorities, participants, the general public), who are increasingly demanding in this respect.
What are the key figures from your GHG assessment?
Our carbon footprints show that the biggest impacts of our events are linked to spectator and participant travel, as we organize popular "off-stadium" competitions.
Why did you decide to commit to a low-carbon transition?
A.S.O organizes its events throughout France and abroad. As a tenant of the spaces it uses, it is essential for A.S.O. to take care of its environment, and this requires a low-carbon strategy. The low-carbon strategy enables us to structure the areas for improvement and reduction that our events need to implement.
